The little things that make up Singapore

Anyone looking at the map of the world who is observant enough will notice a tiny dot just off Malaysia, at about 4 degrees off the latitude. The dot is so small that one will suspect that why map makers bothered to even mark the dot. If you notice hard enough using a microscope, you will see, amongst all the nasty miniscule bacteria, a land known as "Singapore".

Singapore is a misunderstood place to many. To the Americans, Singapore is an mythical island off Hawaii. To the British, Singapore was a place where their fathers took their summer vacations in the 19th century to early 20th century until the Japanese came and took over their vacation homes. To the Australians, Singapore is part of China waiting anxiously to return to the glorious motherland. To all the world, Singapore is as big as Changi Airport.

So who and what is Singapore, apart from being as big as a miniscule bacteria? I will not attempt to explain Singapore as tiny Singapore is made up of one and many little things. I will instead leave it to the discerning to conclude what is Singapore through the photos, and hopefully I will understand what Singapore means to me and what it means to be a Singaporean at the end of this process.
